Art as a Tool for Making Other Tools

Of Lithuanian descent through my paternal grandfather and Tatar descent through my maternal grandmother, I was born in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, in 1981. Kryvyi Rih literally means “Crooked Horn,” referring to the shape of the Inhulets River as it crosses the city when viewed from above.

the river of life, reached through a restlessness, a question—sometimes still diffuse—that becomes desire.

asking questions is an inheritance I received from my primary (de)formation: sociology.

I seek to grasp that point where a sign—a line—an image—a deliberate movement reveals a loose thread of

the social artifact,

the subject that moves me because it makes visible

human plasticity:

if something is,

then

it could be otherwise.

And that is powerful.

I have lived in Argentina since 1999.

I am a Sociologist (FSoc, UBA), Editor (FFyL, UBA), artist, and playwright. I conceive of art as a laboratory-universe where I activate relationships between materials, languages, and ideas, allowing meanings to emerge that would not arise otherwise. Where words fall short, the work opens up other ways of speaking.
